Reunion??

Saturday, January 28th, 2006

Well yea, as you all know, Chinese New Year is like… tmrw. so in basically almost every chinese family, there will be a reunion of some sort. the reunion dinner for my family (my dads side), happened to be at my hse. well, actually it just ended 15 mins ago. Gawdd … almost everything went wrong.

You see, my mom ordered this nasi briyani or something like that… and it came with the meat in the rice. when my relatives started eating it, they realised that it was beef. and well, judging from their reaction, they dont eat beef! *crap!*.. so yup, we had to slowly remove the meat from the rice and urgghhh… find something else to cook. luckily mom prepared a side dish of chicken. the rice also was kinda spicy, and my granny supposedly cant eat spicy food (i swear to god, we had NO IDEA!). so in the end, she ended up making this large bowl of MAGGI MEE!! gosh… tempers started arrising as my mom and her mother in law (aka my granny) got talking. i dont get it, why does the wife always have problems with the mother in law.. seriously! it even happens in the movies. totally zonkers!

Well, things settled down after awhile, ppl got over the whole "i-think-i-ate-beef-in-the-rice" incident and we all got round to lite chitter chatter over wine and desert. the UNATTENDED baby, who belongs to my singaporean uncle (he has 5 kids!! in singapore!! whoahhh.. ) started crying… crying, and crying, and crying! gosh.. that little kid had peed all over the carpet! G-R-O-S-S!!  hahaa… yeah. so we had to do a whole lot of cleaning. in the process, dad ‘managed’ to break a wine glass (way to go dad!), my other cousin had a nose bleed, and somehow all the other little kids were totally lost in their own world watching Harry Potter on tv.. man, kids can get so sucked into movies these days!

Anyway, things turned out O.K in the end.. everyones gone back now. the hse is so so quiet! and i’m totally exhausted from all the layan-ing i had to do. (prepare drinks, pour drinks, serve food, pack extra food for them to ‘tapau’ home, wipe the tables, wash the plates….. etc!) tmrw we’ll be going back to Muar. Mom’s side of the family… i soo cant wait to see my cousins! ching, shea ling and all… yay! and mahjong and cho tai ti!! wooohooo!

i dont really know anyone from my dads side. i’m just terrible at remembering ppl. like the other time, my dads cousin had this big dinner, and there was this really really hot guy there. he looked eurasian… phheeweet! turned out to be my cousin whom i’ve never met before! *damn*.. hahah… anyway, yeah. cant wait for tmrw… at least there’ll be some familiar faces around. before i forget, Happy Chinese New Year to ya’ all out there! Have fun collecting ang pows! :)

Change is…

College life is well… definitely different than how it was in school. Eventhough i miss everyone i went to school with… i’m having the time of my life in college. Sometimes, i feel like blowing my brains out cos of all the work we have to do at college and the amount of class hours, but at the end of the day, i’m really having a great time. Everyone there is really nice… we’re all from diff schools, but somehow, its really easy to just get along. Met alot of really great ppl… lets see… erm, there’s Valerie, Brindha, Wei Ling, the 2 crazy guys Shafiq and Vincent, and banyak banyak lagi… hehe..*i still miss my old schoolies! vila, nad, cla, eunice, ping… :)*

I’ve actually gotten use to the subjects. Econs is abit tough though… *darn! wish Ms Kimmie Tan was teaching me, she’s supposed to be fab at econs* The maths teacher is actually not that bad.. i guess after awhile, you’ll get use to his funny ’slang’… hehee.

At the end of the day, i’m enjoying the whole change of environment.. (studies, friends and all..) Thinking abt goin back to school one of these days to visit all my old friends and teachers.. Hmmm…  for now, the change is gooooood. :)

Of eng lit, dvds and shoesss…

I quite like Eng lit… although the lecturer speaks rather oddly.. she’s nice and makes the class tons of fun. Going to stick with that subject. Econs class yesterday was not bad either. The subject’s really nice.. makes you think with an open mind. Math sucked. The lecturer i mean. He’s like this friggin cina guy, who cant pronounce ANYTHING! He’s sorta really annoying!! RAWRR!! This person actually fell asleep at the back of the class.. and his friends started throwing erasers at him! LMAO!

OOohh… i went to bsc last night and bought the adidas sneakers that i wanted. *yay!*.. there’s goes my allowance.. my so called monthly ’splurge’!

Anyway, been buying tons of dvd’s lately.. haha. yea, the rm12 ones at desa. Went just now to buy them… i got,

  • Harry Potter and the goblet of fire ( saw it at the cinema twice! )
  • Desporate Housewifes complete season 2 =)
  • Raise Your Voice ( predictable… bleah! )
  • Monster in Law
  • Narnia ( saw it at the cinema.. dad wanted to watch it again =S )
  • Raising Helen ( i think they’re showing it on Astro.. bought it anyway! )
  • Memoirs of A Geisha
  • Sin City
  • Dukes of Hazzard
  • King Kong ( he dies in the end… be prepared! its a 3 hour show!! )
  • Stuck on You (another old movie )
  • Hating Alison Ashley
  • Undiscovered
  • Pride and Prejudice
  • Elizabethtown
  • American Pie 4 : Bandcamp ( hehehehe… :P )

I bought so so many! Dont even ask me how much i had to pay! haha…

College subs revamped!

Saturday, January 7th, 2006

This morning, at about 9am.. mom woke me up. She then told me to reconsider doing further math. From there, it made me think… "do i really want to do physics?" hell no! hahaa.. i actually hate hate hate science.. (so much for goin to science stream for 2 blardy yrs!). i’ve decided not to do physics AND further math anymore.. woooohoooooo!!! i’m now doin math, econs, eng lit and law! (LAW! *omg!* —>something i told myself i’d never do).. hahaha..

So yeah, this is sort of the confirmed subjects i’m taking. might even add/drop later… really unsure now. i guess architecture’s out of the question —-> can’t do physics for nuts. :P *college is so tough! so many decisions! rawrrr!!*

Anyway, i saw this really nice white and red pair of reebok (or was it adidas) sneakers from bsc yesterday. cost quite alot… but its so soo nice! i’ve made up my mind… going back there on monday to buy em! :)

this COULD be a start …..

Friday, January 6th, 2006

Well, as you can see.. my last update was 24/4/2005! which is ages ago. got bored of blogging way back then.. and perhaps in a matter of a few days, i’ll get bored of this attempt to update my blog too. but for now, its a start.

  • anyway, whats been happening ever since 2006 started? C O L L E G E !! It sounds really mature and cool and sort of moving-on-to-the-next-stage-of-your-life thing (which is what the lecturers tell you), but heck! its even more tiring and tough than high school. i mean ur put in diff groups for diff subjects and then given this schedule which you cant read unless you squint your eyes.. and then you’ve got to move from class to class, building to building just to get to the next class (how am i supposed to get from KPD to WH, IN TIME.)… i know, i know! college hasnt even REALLY started… but its definitely gonna take some time to get used to. i think the lecturers at HELP are good.. they’re really nice ppl. but somehow, the further maths lady is a tad bit scary. she’s goin on and on abt how those who dont score ‘A’ in her class arent fit to be there. yeah, its true.. but that’s certainly not goin to boost our confidence in taking this sub. hope she relaxes after a few classes…
  • i’m taking math, further math, econs and physics. the physics class today was hmm… well, it was a lil challenging. yes, it was the FIRST lesson. and normally first lessons are supposed to be easy. but physics has never been on my strong-subject list. everyone during class seemed really into physics.. i felt just.. LOST!! i guess i’ll have to do some extra readin up on the form 4 syllabus all over again.. thank god i didnt throw out all my old books. i’ve never done econs b4 and abit worried abt this sub. hearing from Ching, well, she said that econs is really interesting and all… went to Times today at bsc in search of some college reff books. found this friggin thick econs book!! omg! we’re actually supposed to use that for class. its like carryin bricks around campus… owh well, tough luck!
  • hoping that by next week things will be in order… still VERY unsure where all my classes are. hardly get to see any of those ppl anymore. that nadia la.. ish! all the way in that nice not to mention CONVENIENT main block… along with eunice and pohsim and paikjin. and then there’s emy, ming, nyat, nat, may, vun, nisha… grrrr… all taking diff subs!! :(.
  • i guess when they say "moving-on-to-the-next-stage-of-your-life", they kinda mean… YOU GOTTA MAKE NEW FRIENDS, find ur own way around! haihz.. yeap, anyway, that’s that so far. ooh, that reminds me… i need to get more DVD’s to watch (haha!), new shoes.. (as in comfy sneakers for coll), and hmm.. college books (daym!).

Ain’t life ’sweet’ ?? :P
